MAGIC

History of Magic

Magic is something that has been practice in just about every culture and civilization throughout history. In ancient Egypt, people believe that magic was a gift from the gods and priests would use this magic for healing, protecting, and divining. Similar to the ancient Egyptians, ancient China believe in magic and would use it for healing, protecting, and divining. In ancient Greece, they use magic as a way to communicate with supernatural beings and seek their help or protection. Even ancient Rome believed in magic and actually band magical practices.

During the middle ages, people believed that magic was a threat to the established order of society. Churches would condem magic and associate it with witchcraft and heresy, so many of those who practiced magic would be persecuted and executed. Even though magic was persecuted during the middle ages, that still didn't stop people from practicing magic in secret. Infact during this time, the legend of King Arthur became popular and in those legends, the wizard Merlin was vital to his rise to power.

During the Renaissance, there was significatant changes in the culture of the European people. One of these changes what the prespective on magic. During the Renaissance people became more interest in magic and the ocult and believe that through magic they could learn the secrets of the universe. This is also where the idea that secience was a natural phenomenon and could be explained by secience became popular. This idea only became more popular during the age of enlightenment where more people started believing the magic was just a superstition and had no place in society.

During the 19th century, magic became less of a form of mystical powers and more as a form of entertainment like it is today. Stage magic became its own distict art form and stories like Harry Potter only cultivated the interest in magic. During the 20th century magic only contuined to evolve and soon turned into what it is today.

Appearance Magic

Appearance magic is where a magician makes an object appear out of thin air. Sometimes magicians will use vanishing magic to make an object disappear first then make it reappear.

Levitation Magic

Levitation magic is where a magician makes an object float in the air. The object can be anything from something small like a coin or something big like a human.

Penetration Magic

Penetration magic is where a magician makes an object pass through another object without causing damage to either object. Sometimes magicians doing a vanishing trick will use the premis that the object is going through something like a table.

Prediction Magic

Prediction magic is where a magician makes a claim about the future. The most common form of prediction magic is where a magician finds your chosen card or guesses what you're thinking.

Restoration Magic

Restoration magic is where a magician damages an object then magically repairs it. The type of damage can be anywhere from tearing the corner of a card the fixing it to burning a card and making it reappear in the ashes.

Transformation Magic

Transformation magic is where a magician turns one object into another object. It is not uncommon for the magician to change the object back into its original form or to do the trick multiple times.

Transportation Magic

Transportation magic is where a magician makes an object or a person change places seemingly instantly. This type of trick can also involve have two objects switch places. This can happen as many times as the magician wants.

Vanish Magic

Vanishing magic is where the magician makes an object disapear. The some magicians will combine vanishing magic with appearance magic and make the object reappear.
